Description PURPOSE/MISSION:

Our client is seeking Linux Software Engineers to configure, integrate, and test embedded Linux software and actively participate in the LinuxLink community. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a proven background in Linux software development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Building Linux distributions for embedded processor architectures (MIPS, ARM, PowerPC) using open-source components (kernel, tool chains, file system) and processor-specific patches from semiconductor manufacturers.

Designing and implementing Linux based tools and techniques to automate building, patch-management, and overall lifecycle management of Linux based embedded applications.

Providing answers and problem solving for customers

Qualifications Bachelor¡¦s degree in CS or equivalent experience.
7+ years relevant experience
Understanding of, and experience with at least one of the following (the more the better):
Embedded software development.
Building a Linux kernel from open-source
Building Linux tool-chains from open source
Creating a bootable Linux image and file-system
Linux programming
Strong problem solving, programming and debugging skills.
Customer satisfaction
Excellent Communication skills (verbal and written)
Customer interaction is required
Team Player
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve software issues in open-source or third-party code.
Considered a Plus:
Understanding of, and experience with:
At least one of the following embedded processor architectures: MIPS, ARM, PowerPC.
Cross-compilation methods
Participation in any open-source project.
Experience at an embedded systems vendor (Wind River, Green Hills, QNX, etc.).

We are currently working with a local software company, looking to their engineering team by hiring several highly skilled Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineers. These are not entry level positions, Software Engineers should possess 2 to 5 years of relevant experience and Senior Software Engineers should have more than 5 years of relevant experience. The product is built upon an Open Source platform and requires the engineers to have professional experience with:

You are passionate about Open Source software.
Mastery of at least on of Java, C++ or C#.
Mastery of at least one of Perl, Python, PHP or Ruby.
2+ years of experience with building, using and contributing to Open Source Software.
Strong experience with Linux and an understanding of compilers, code instrumentation, pattern matching, debuggers.
Knowledge of MySQL/SQL, AJAX, CSS, HTML, RSS and LAMP.
Knowledge of software build / patch / deployment processes and procedures i.e. Maven, Ant, Eclipse etc.

Other requirements related to these positions include:
Have a B.S Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, a Masters Degree is preferred.
Strong business writing and verbal communications skills.
Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Must have a high level of professionalism, integrity and a strong commitment to quality.
